Sufjan Stevens is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist known for his inventive and emotionally resonant music. Since his debut album A Sun Came in 2000, released on the Asthmatic Kitty label he co-founded, Stevens has explored a wide range of styles, from folk and electronica to orchestral pop and holiday music. He gained widespread acclaim with the album Illinois in 2005, featuring the popular single Chicago. Stevens has also contributed to film, notably writing Mystery of Love for the Call Me by Your Name soundtrack, earning both Grammy and Academy Award nominations. Renowned for playing multiple instruments and weaving themes of spirituality and personal reflection into his work, Stevens continues to evolve, releasing his tenth studio album Javelin in 2023.
