100% Birch Shell Construction

The shells are built from 100% birch in a six-ply configuration — the same material that has defined Yamaha drums for decades. Birch delivers short decay, quick attack, and tight sound with excellent separation, making it equally effective across rock, pop, and jazz applications.

Hand Lacquered Deep Blue Sunburst

The Deep Blue Sunburst finish is applied by hand, achieving the surface quality associated with high-end drum kits. Natural wood grain variations beneath the lacquer give each shell set a subtly individual character.

Y.E.S.S. Tom Mounting

The Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System (Y.E.S.S.) mounts hardware at the nodal point of each tom — the position of minimal vibration interference. Minimum contact between hardware and shell, combined with nylon bushing rod clamps, allows toms to resonate freely while remaining stable under heavy playing.

Absolute Lugs

Stage Custom shells are fitted with Absolute Lugs, which use an internal lug nut hold plate that prevents tension bolts from loosening during performance, ensuring consistent tuning throughout a set.

Ball Mount and Clamp

Yamaha's original ball mount and clamp uses a large ultra-hard resin ball in a chromed housing, secured with a titanium ergonomic wing bolt. Toms can be positioned at any angle with non-slip stability, and the system also permits bottom head tuning by rotating the drum without removing the mount.

Hardware Details

Die-cast claw hooks fitted with rubber insertion plates reduce unwanted noise from the bass drum hoops. Bass drum legs include stoppers for easier and more reliable positioning on any stage surface.
