Vox Pathfinder 10 Black Amplificador combo solid-state

Vox Pathfinder 10 — A 10-Watt Practice Combo with Classic VOX Character

The Vox Pathfinder 10 distils the brand's signature British-voiced tone into a desk-friendly 10-watt solid-state combo. Built around a 165 mm Vox Bulldog driver and the instantly recognisable diamond grille cloth, this model targets players who want authentic VOX character for bedroom practice, backstage warm-ups, and direct recording. A Clean/Overdrive switch, four chicken-head knobs, and a filtered headphone/line output cover the full range of practice scenarios without the weight or cost of a tube amp.

What Sets the Pathfinder 10 Apart

Two design choices give this combo its identity in a crowded field of entry-level solid-state amps. The matched 165 mm Vox Bulldog speaker is voiced specifically for the 10-watt amplifier, delivering the chime-y clean character and warm breakup that define the VOX sound. The headphone/line output carries a speaker-emulated filter, so the same jack serves as a silent-practice monitor and a direct-recording feed straight into an audio interface — no extra DI box required.

10-Watt Power and a Purpose-Built Bulldog Driver

Power and speaker pairing matter most in a practice combo: too little headroom and clean tones choke, too much and the amp stops fitting on a shelf. This instrument sits in the sweet spot with a 10 W RMS output into 8 Ohms, paired to a single 165 mm Bulldog cone voiced for this exact amplifier.

• The output power is 10 W RMS, providing enough headroom for clean chords at bedroom volume, with natural breakup when pushed.
• Speaker: 1 x 165 mm Vox Bulldog — matched driver delivering the chime-y clean and warm overdrive character VOX is built around
• Solid-state circuitry running at 8 Ohms for predictable response across the volume range

Two Channels, Four Knobs, One Switch

Intentionally stripped down, the control layout keeps players playing rather than tweaking. A two-channel design (Clean and Overdrive) is selected via a single front-panel switch, while Gain, Volume, Bass, and Treble knobs shape the tone in either mode. There is no built-in reverb, no effects loop, and no footswitch input — the amp is built for direct hands-on control.

• Channels: 2 (Clean / Overdrive) — switchable from chime-y clean to warm VOX distortion with one press
• Controls: Volume, Gain, Bass, Treble — four chicken-head knobs covering level, drive, and two-band EQ
• Manual channel switching keeps the signal path simple without the need for an external footswitch.

Headphone/Line Output and a Compact Enclosure

Minimal but purposeful, the connectivity covers every practice scenario: one instrument input on the front, one combined headphone/line output on the rear. The filtered line output makes this model a viable tool for late-night recording sessions, while the headphone jack doubles as a silent-practice monitor. The enclosure itself is sized for portability rather than stage volume.

• Inputs: 1 x Normal Input Jack — standard 6.35 mm instrument input on the front panel
• Outputs: 1 x Headphone/Line Out Jack — filtered signal for silent practice or direct recording
• Dimensions of 380 x 260 x 170 mm give it a desk-friendly footprint that fits on a shelf or studio rack
• Weighing just 4.8 kg, it carries one-handed to a backstage or rehearsal room

Who Should Buy the Pathfinder 10

This unit is the right choice for guitarists who want an authentic VOX-voiced practice combo without the cost, weight, or maintenance of a tube amp. Bedroom players benefit from the headphone/line output and the filtered direct-recording feed, which lets them track ideas into an audio interface at any hour of the night. Backstage and travelling players will appreciate the 4.8 kg weight and the diamond-grille styling that reads as a real amp on a small stage. Beginners get a stripped-down control layout — four knobs, one switch — that encourages learning tone shaping by ear rather than menu diving.

Vox and the Pathfinder Line — A Heritage Built on British Tone

VOX's reputation for warm British-voiced tone dates back to the 1950s, when the brand's amplifiers became part of the rig of icons including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Queen, Jimi Hendrix, and Radiohead. The Pathfinder 10 carries that heritage into the solid-state practice-amp category, pairing the classic diamond grille cloth with a matched Bulldog speaker and a Clean/Overdrive switch designed to deliver the chime-y clean character and creamy distortion.
