Viv Albertine is an Australian-born English musician and writer, best known as the guitarist for the pioneering punk band the Slits from 1977 to 1982. She played a key role in shaping the band's influential sound and appeared on their two studio albums. Before joining the Slits, she was also part of the Flowers of Romance. After the Slits disbanded, Albertine shifted her focus to filmmaking, working as a director for the BBC and the British Film Institute. She returned to music with her solo album The Vermilion Border in 2012. Albertine has authored two acclaimed memoirs, Clothes Clothes Clothes Music Music Music Boys Boys Boys and To Throw Away Unopened, chronicling her life in music and beyond.
