Tygers of Pan Tang is an English heavy metal band originating from Whitley Bay in 1978. As key figures in the new wave of British heavy metal movement, they gained recognition before disbanding in 1987. The group reunited in 1999 and remains active with new music and performances. Their name is inspired by a fantasy setting in Michael Moorcock's novels.
