The Blues Brothers are an American blues and soul band founded in 1978 by comedians Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi, who first worked together as part of the original cast of Saturday Night Live. Originally performing as "Joliet" Jake Blues (Belushi) and Elwood Blues (Aykroyd), the duo became known for their signature black suits, hats, and sunglasses. Backed by a lineup of accomplished musicians, the group quickly rose to fame after their debut on Saturday Night Live and the release of their chart-topping live album, Briefcase Full of Blues. The Blues Brothers achieved further popularity with their iconic 1980 film, solidifying their place as a legendary blues revue. Despite Belushi’s passing in 1982, the band has continued to perform with various members, reuniting for tours and the 1998 sequel movie, Blues Brothers 2000.
