Serj Tankian is an Armenian-American musician and political activist, best known as the lead vocalist of the alternative metal band System of a Down, formed in 1994. Tankian has released five albums with the band and five as a solo artist, including Elect the Dead and Harakiri. He is recognized for his unique vocal delivery and impressive 4.2-octave range, earning acclaim as one of heavy metal’s top vocalists. Beyond his music, Tankian is the founder of Serjical Strike Records and co-founder of the activist group Axis of Justice. He has collaborated with artists across genres and was honored with the Armenian Prime Minister’s Medal for his efforts in raising awareness of the Armenian genocide and contributing to music.
