Nightwish is a symphonic metal band from Kitee, Finland, formed in 1996 by Tuomas Holopainen, Emppu Vuorinen, and Tarja Turunen. The band gained significant attention with albums like Oceanborn, Wishmaster, and Century Child, but it was their 2004 release Once that brought them international breakthrough, selling over a million copies and making waves in the United States with the hit single Wish I Had an Angel. Over the years, Nightwish has seen several lineup changes, with notable vocalists including Tarja Turunen, Anette Olzon, and Floor Jansen. Known for their blend of heavy metal and orchestral elements, Nightwish has become Finland’s most successful band worldwide, with over 10 million records sold and numerous gold and platinum awards. In 2018, they were inducted into the Finnish Music Hall of Fame, cementing their legacy as pioneers of the symphonic metal genre.
