Marshall Crenshaw is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and guitarist known for his melodic pop songs and thoughtful songwriting. Rising to fame in the early 1980s, he scored hits with "Someday, Someway," "Cynical Girl," and "Whenever You're on My Mind." His sound draws from classic soul and early rock and roll, often drawing comparisons to Buddy Holly, whom he portrayed in the film La Bamba. Crenshaw also co-wrote the Gin Blossoms’ 1990s hit "Til I Hear It from You" and has written songs for a range of artists. Originally from Michigan, he began his career performing in the musical Beatlemania before launching his solo work. Though best known for his early albums, Crenshaw remains respected for his distinctive style and songwriting craft.
