Gum Arabic is a binder for distemper (watercolors, gouache colors) and gum tempera. The medium, obtained from a natural gum (arabicium), increases the vividness, transparency and waterproofness of watercolors. Application: The medium is mixed with the watercolor before application, for example, on a mixing palette. The amount of medium depends on what intensity you want to achieve. To get the right mixture, do some tests with a few colors in advance. A mixture of 2:1 (watercolor / medium) is a good start. Depending on the desired effect, this mixture can then be increased or decreased.
