Stage-Ready Acoustic Tone from a Soundhole Pickup

The L.R. Baggs M1 Activ Soundhole Pickup is an active magnetic pickup that brings natural acoustic tone to the stage without permanently modifying the instrument. It clamps into the soundhole with two screws per side, leaving the guitar otherwise untouched. Inside, a stacked humbucker pairs a string-sensing coil with a second coil internally suspended to capture soundboard vibrations.

What Sets the M1 Activ Apart

Defining the character of the pickup is the suspended second coil, which picks up soundboard vibrations alongside the string signal — mimicking a soundboard transducer without the feedback risk. The active circuit runs on a single CR2032 button cell delivering more than 1,000 hours of runtime, while the integrated volume wheel lets the player trim level directly on the pickup.

A stacked humbucker layout places the two coils one above the other, narrowing the footprint so less of the soundhole is blocked.
