Korg Nu:Tekt NTS-2 Oscilloscope

The Nu:Tekt NTS-2 oscilloscope kit is a multifunctional tool that musicians can build themselves. In addition to serving as a 4-channel oscilloscope - capable of displaying both control voltages (CV) and audio signals - the NTS-2 also offers a flexible waveform generator, spectrum analyzer and universal tuner in one DIY device that fits perfectly in the palm of your hand.

The NTS-2 was originally only available in a bundle with the acclaimed book "PATCH & TWEAK with KORG", now it is finally available on its own.

The NTS-2 kit is compact and easy to assemble (*), but don't let its size fool you - it's really powerful! The NTS-2 is an oscilloscope, tuner, FFT and spectrum analyzer that is accurate, intuitive and incredibly useful. But that's not all - with its dual stereo IN, dual stereo THRU/OUT and two separate OUTPUTs, you can plug it into your synth setup and use its two waveform generators to get another pair of oscillators or LFOs! It's the ideal tool for every synth lover and module user - from beginner to professional.

Although synthesizers are primarily musical instruments, their recognition is easier and more intuitive if we can use our eyes in addition to our ears. The study of waveforms, frequency and time relationships, audio signals, and control voltages becomes clear and immediate if we can see how they change and interact, not just hear what they do. Seeing these signals come to life in full color as we fix and edit them gives our learning process a huge boost!

The oscilloscope, a tool for visualizing signals and voltages, has been around for many years - but as a scientific instrument, it might not look like something a musician would easily use. Not anymore - for the first time, an oscilloscope has been designed with the musician in mind! 

The NTS-2 interface is simple, clear and easy to use; instead of twisting knobs and trying to understand obscure parameters, you can look at your signals and understand them in seconds. Thanks to this, you can focus on what belongs to you: making music.

The NTS-2 packs a host of useful studio features, all in a pocket-friendly package that you can take anywhere.
Thanks to two stereo inputs, you can study up to four signals at once, easily compare and overlap them. The different display modes allow you to see the data in color, which is a huge advantage over the old oscilloscopes you've seen in sci-fi movies! Its user interface is clear and fast with dedicated menu buttons and a clicky encoder knob, and its 2.8" color LCD display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels is a joy to look at.

The NTS-2 even has a powerful Lissajous mode - opening the door to creativity and allowing you to visualize widely available oscilloscope art for even more fun with the device.

The NTS-2 also features a special FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) mode with a real-time spectrum analyzer that allows for deeper analysis of any signal. These nifty tools have always been out of reach for the synthesizer musician, requiring either expensive hardware or proximity to a computer. Now you can carry them in your pocket!

However, the NTS-2 is much more than just an oscilloscope. The flexible wave generator mode has 2 oscillators with dedicated outputs so you can test your synth setup or just get creative! Each oscillator can produce different waveforms - sine, square, triangle, sawtooth, pulse and noise - whose shape and phase can be adjusted to suit many applications.
These sounds can be used in the audio range, or as control voltage sources and set to cycle continuously or operate as single pulses; that is, you can turn them into LFOs, envelopes, triggers, and control voltage generators, as well as sound sources. Connecting the NTS-2 to any pluggable synthesizer instantly expands its performance in useful ways.

And of course, being from KORG, this multi-functional utility kit wouldn't be complete without an accurate and easy-to-use tuner with multiple display modes!
With the ability to receive and monitor up to 4 input signals simultaneously, the NTS-2 is the analog synth player's dream instrument.

Despite its small size, the NTS-2 offers plenty of ways to connect to your studio. In addition to its 4-channel input and dual waveform output features, its two stereo THRU/OUT ports let you keep it plugged into your system. It's much easier to understand what you're doing if you can see the signals and use them instead of constantly plugging and unplugging cables. This handy feature allows you to keep the signal flowing all the time - even when the NTS-2 has been turned off.

Speaking of power, the NTS-2 maximizes portability and flexibility by using either batteries or USB-C power depending on your needs.
