Switching from heavy knits and fabrics to very fine ones only requires flipping a lever, which changes the timing and range of the hook stroke, reducing the tension on the needle thread.

• Single-thread chain stitch - thread only one needle and the lower looper.
• Double-thread chain stitch with narrower bottom cover - thread two needles together and remove the third outer needle, then thread the lower looper. Double chain stitch with wider bottom cover - thread the two outer needles and remove the middle one, thread the bottom looper. This stitch is most often used for finishing T-shirts, for example, where it looks like a double needle stitch on the top and a flexible stitch on the back.
• Triple chain stitch with wider bottom cover - thread all needles, thread the bottom looper. This stitch is most often used for finishing T-shirts, for example, where the top looks like it has been sewn with a triple needle and the back has a flexible stitch.
