Glen Campbell was an American country musician and actor whose career spanned five decades. Rising from his roots in Billstown, Arkansas, he first gained recognition as a top session guitarist in Los Angeles, including work with the legendary Wrecking Crew. Campbell became a major solo star in the 1960s and 1970s, best known for timeless hits like "Gentle on My Mind," "Wichita Lineman," "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," "Galveston," "Rhinestone Cowboy," and "Southern Nights." He released 64 albums and sold over 45 million records worldwide, earning multiple gold and platinum certifications. Alongside his musical success, Campbell hosted "The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour" on CBS, expanding his fame into television. Over his career, he scored 80 charting singles, with numerous top ten and number one hits. Campbell received four Grammy Awards in 1967, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and high honors from the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music. He also made a notable film appearance in "True Grit," earning a Golden Globe nomination. Campbell’s career ended after a public battle with Alzheimer's disease, and he passed away in 2017, leaving a lasting legacy as one of country music’s most iconic voices.
