Angelo Badalamenti (March 22, 1937 – December 11, 2022) was an American composer and arranger renowned for his atmospheric film and television scores, particularly through his long-standing collaboration with director David Lynch on projects like Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, The Straight Story, and Mulholland Drive. His music became iconic for its evocative blend of dreamlike melodies and haunting moods. Beyond his work with Lynch, Badalamenti also created scores for films such as National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, The City of Lost Children, Holy Smoke, and A Very Long Engagement, and collaborated with notable artists including Julee Cruise, Nina Simone, David Bowie, and Pet Shop Boys. He received the Grammy Award for the Twin Peaks Theme and was honored with several lifetime achievement awards for his influential contributions to film music.
