Combining the legendary Recording Custom pedigree with the distinctive sonic properties of stainless steel, the RLS1455 is a 14" × 5.5" snare drum that delivers a bright, cutting tone with powerful projection and exceptional sustain. Developed with input from Steve Gadd, it features the same outward center bead design and Q-type strainer as its brass counterpart, and comes bundled with a signature SG 10-strand snare wire for a crisper, more staccato sound.

1.2 mm Stainless Steel Shell

The thin 1.2 mm stainless steel shell produces a bright, cutting tone with strong projection and lively attack, offering slightly more punch and sustain compared to brass while maintaining the clarity expected from metal snare drums.

Outward Center Bead

The center bead is fixed to the outside of the shell rather than the interior, producing a more open, resonant tone with greater articulation — a design refined in close collaboration with Steve Gadd.

Bundled Snare Wire

The drum ships with a 20-strand standard snare wire installed plus a bundled SG-type 10-strand wire. The 10-strand wire with the middle four strands removed enhances sound cutoff for a crisper, more staccato tone preferred by Steve Gadd.

Q-Type Strainer

The robust Q-type strainer provides stable and smooth operation, making it easy to swap between the two included snare wires for different tonal responses.
