Primer for crackle varnish. Base coat for crackle finishes in combination with crackle varnish. Transparent; slightly yellow; fast-drying. Dilutable with turpentine substitute , but dries rather quickly to a turpentine substitute-resistant film.

App:

1) apply this base in a medium-thin layer (you can dilute it to 20-30 percent) to freshly dried, unvarnished paint.

2) leave the base on for 50-90 minutes

3) apply cracker varnish 2 (manufacturer's number 50075) to the still sticky base and let it sit for one day

4) after another 24 hours, gently wash off the varnish from the painting surface (unlike the base, it is water-dilutable, so just wash off with a cloth and water)

5) you can then use oil paints to highlight the cracks
