Satyricon is a Norwegian black metal band from Oslo, founded in 1991. Led by core members Satyr and Frost since 1993, the duo has remained the only official members since 1997. Their early work is rooted in traditional Norwegian black metal, while later albums blend in heavy metal influences. Satyricon is notable for being the first Norwegian black metal band to sign with a major international label.
