Gel Retarder slows down the drying time of acrylic paints. A typical characteristic of acrylic paints is their very short drying time. Thin layers of paint can be dry after only five minutes and even thicker coats usually dry completely overnight. If this behaviour is to be changed, so-called drying retarders are used. It increases the ''open time'' of the paint and thus enables longer ''wet-on-wet'' painting. The more drying retarder is used, the more transparent the colors become. The Gel Retarder is added to the acrylic paint and dries waterproof. Due to its consistency, the gel collapses less after drying than when it is in liquid form.
