Kate Bush, born on 30 July 1958, is an influential English singer, songwriter, producer, and dancer. She began writing songs as a child and was signed to EMI Records with help from Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour. At 19, she achieved a groundbreaking UK number one with her debut single "Wuthering Heights," making her the first female artist to reach the top with a self-written song. Her debut album "The Kick Inside" launched her career, followed by a series of critically acclaimed releases. Bush is known for her distinctive musical style and innovative approach, with hits like "Babooshka," "Running Up That Hill," and the Peter Gabriel duet "Don't Give Up." All nine of her studio albums have reached the UK top 10, with several topping the charts. After a break from music, she returned with new albums and made a celebrated comeback to live performance with her "Before the Dawn" residency in 2014. In 2022, "Running Up That Hill" saw renewed global success after featuring in the series Stranger Things. Bush’s influence extends across genres and generations, inspiring countless artists with her literary lyrics and creative vision. She has received numerous honors, including a Brit Award, the Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music, appointment as CBE, and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
