ADAM Audio T8V — Nearfield Studio Monitor with Ribbon Detail and 8" Bass Reach

The ADAM Audio T8V is a 2-way active nearfield studio monitor for small control rooms needing honest bass extension and ribbon-tweeter detail. As the T Series flagship, it pairs an 8-inch polypropylene woofer with the U-ART tweeter for a 33 Hz to 25 kHz response. The T8V suits home-studio producers who want ADAM Audio's clarity without the S Series price tag.

What Sets This Monitor Apart in the Nearfield Class

Two technologies borrowed from ADAM Audio's S Series define the T8V. The U-ART tweeter uses a pleated diaphragm that moves air four times faster than the folds themselves, yielding a 4:1 velocity transfer ratio that lowers distortion and extends response to 25 kHz. The HPS waveguide shapes dispersion horizontally for a wider sweet spot and vertically for a more focused sound.

Acoustic Performance — Bass Extension and Headroom

A rear-firing bass-reflex port augments the 8-inch woofer, reaching down to 33 Hz (-6 dB) and giving a pair of monitors a maximum SPL of 118 dB at 1 m. The crossover sits at 2.6 kHz, keeping the midrange coherent between the two drivers.

• Frequency Response: 33 Hz – 25 kHz (-6 dB) — covers bass guitar range and above human hearing
• Max SPL per Pair: ≥118 dB — headroom for tracking live drums
• Crossover Frequency: 2.6 kHz — keeps vocals coherent on a single driver

Bi-Amplification — Dedicated Class D Power for Each Driver

Each driver is fed by its own dedicated Class D PWM amplifier, so the woofer and tweeter never compete for current. The 70 W woofer and 20 W tweeter amps combine for 90 W of RMS power, with a maximum power consumption of 150 W.

• Woofer Amplifier: 70 W RMS Class D PWM — drives the 8" cone cleanly at peak SPL
• Tweeter Amplifier: 20 W RMS Class D PWM — preserves transient detail in the high band
• Total RMS Power: 90 W — bi-amped headroom for nearfield monitoring

Room Tuning and Connectivity

The rear panel houses balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog inputs, plus high-shelf and low-shelf EQ filters for placement near walls or on a desk. Input sensitivity switches from -10 dBV to +4 dBu.

• Inputs: XLR / RCA — balanced pro plus consumer-friendly RCA
• Input Sensitivity: -10 to +4 dB — matches interface and consumer source levels
• High/Low Shelf EQ: -2 dB, 0 dB, +2 dB — two-band room correction from the rear panel

Who Should Choose the ADAM Audio T8V

The T8V is the right choice for bedroom producers, project-studio engineers, podcast editors, and electronic musicians who want a reliable nearfield reference with real low-end reach. The 8-inch woofer and 33 Hz extension suit hip-hop, EDM, and film scoring, while the U-ART tweeter keeps vocals and cymbals honest. A pair fills a small-to-medium control room and pairs with the T10S subwoofer for deeper bass.

ADAM Audio — Berlin Engineering Built on the Heil Air Motion Transformer

ADAM Audio was founded in Berlin in 1999 around a production version of Oskar Heil's 1960s Air Motion Transformer, refined into the X-ART (eXtended Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeter. That ribbon tweeter became the foundation of the company's transparent sound and the basis for every model that followed, including the U-ART tweeter in the T Series. The T8V brings that heritage into the affordable tier.
