Roland TD-02K V-Drums — Compact Entry-Level Electronic Drum Kit with V-Drums Sound

Built around a three-post stand that adjusts in height to suit younger drummers and tight practice spaces, the Roland TD-02K is the most compact kit in the TD-02 series. It pairs the TD-02 sound module with a PD-4 snare, three PD-4 tom pads, three CY-5 cymbal pads, the KT-1 beaterless kick trigger, and the FD-1 hi-hat control pedal. What makes this V-Drums electronic drum kit appealing is its 16 ready-to-play kits, onboard Coach functions, and a built-in metronome.

What Sets the TD-02K Apart in the Entry-Level Tier

Unlike most kits in this price band, which rely on generic rubber pads, the TD-02K uses Roland's refined rubber pad surfaces that respond cleanly to dynamics. Both the KT-1 beaterless kick pedal and FD-1 hi-hat controller incorporate proprietary sound-absorption design to contain floor-borne thump. Adding the optional BOSS BT-DUAL Bluetooth Audio MIDI Dual Adaptor brings wireless streaming without changing the module.

Pad Configuration — A Full Five-Pad Layout in a Compact Footprint

Pads are chosen to give beginners a layout that translates directly to acoustic drums and larger V-Drums kits.

• Snare: PD-4 × 1 — single-zone rubber pad
• Toms: PD-4 × 3 — three matching pads for consistent feel across the kit
• With three CY-5 cymbal pads, the hi-hat, crash, and ride all feature choke detection on crash and ride for realistic playability.
• Kick: KT-1 × 1 — beaterless trigger with built-in sound absorption
• Hi-Hat Control: FD-1 × 1 — dedicated pedal for open, closed, and half-open articulation

TD-02 Sound Module — 16 Kits, Coach Tools, and Metronome

• Coach Functions: 5 modes — Time Check (easy/hard), Quiet Count, Auto Up/Down, Change-Up
• Metronome: Tempo 20–260 — 5 rhythm types and 15 click sounds

Who the TD-02K Is Built For

Beginners, students, and returning drummers seeking authentic V-Drums sound in a compact package will appreciate the TD-02K. Height adjustability makes it suitable for younger players, and the noise-absorbing pedals allow for late-night practice in apartment settings. Add the BOSS BT-DUAL adaptor for wireless play-along and upgrade pads through the DB-25 trigger input.

Roland V-Drums — A Legacy That Started in 1997

Roland introduced V-Drums in 1997, setting a benchmark for electronic drum sound and playability that continues to evolve. The TD-02 series carries that legacy into the entry-level tier, distilling decades of pad, trigger, and sound-engine research into a kit that still feels unmistakably Roland. The TD-02K benefits from the same engineering team that builds flagship V-Drums used worldwide on stage.
